Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The City Hall has a drive-up‘drop box’ for payment and correspondence after hours. Drop Box is located on south side of City Hall and can be reached by entering through the City Hall parking lot and proceeding to drive on south side of building.

Information on Reserving Park Pavilions

If you would like to reserve a pavilion at Marsh Park or North Park, please call 692-3250 and ask for Linda.  There is no charge to reserve a pavilion, but they are reserved on a first come first serve basis.

Zoning and Building Information

Any structural changes or additions to property, residences or commercial buildings require a permit from the City. A permit is also required for all new structures. Contact City Hall for further information. Requests for changes in zoning classifications are also handled through City Hall.Building Permit

Requirements

You must be a citizen of the United Sates, 18 years of age or older, must reside in the election district 30 days preceding an election.

City Hall Holiday Garbage Pickup

The Fairbury City Hall is closed every year on the following holidays:

New Year’s Day

President’s Day

Easter

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Veteran’s Day

Thanksgiving Day

Christmas Day

If the holiday falls on a Saturday, the City Hall will be closed the Friday before. If the holiday falls on a Sunday, the City Hall will be closed the Monday after. Garbage will still be picked up on Veteran’s Day. On all other holidays, garbage will be picked up the following day. If the holiday falls on a Friday, garbage will be picked up the Thursday before.

Special Notice of Parking Ordinance
Due to the approach of winter weather and concern over the possible blocking of emergency vehicles, the (City of Fairbury) Council and Mayor wish to remind the residents of Fairbury of the current ordinances relative to vehicle parking on city streets.

These ordinances, while they may cause an inconvenience to some residents, were approved and published in the past for the purpose of public safety and efficient and timely snow removal. The Council respectfully asks for your cooperation and compliance to assure a safe and fully functional traffic flow within our city.

  1. All streets should allow for an eighteen foot useable/unobstructed roadway to assure unrestricted traffic flow.
  2. No parking is allowed on any street for a period of twelve hours during or after a snowfall of three or more inches.
  3. During the months of December, January, and February, no parking is allowed, on any day, between the hours of 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM on the following streets:

Locust, Hickory, First, Third, and Seventh

Fifth and Sixth Streets between Oak and Pine

The Police Committee and Mayor have directed the Police Department to remind those improperly parking their vehicles, that these ordinances will be enforced to assure a safe and unobstructed traffic flow this winter. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated to secure these ends.

GARBAGE PICKUP RECYCLE SECTIONS

Southeast portion of city - Monday 2nd & 4th Thursdays

Leaf disposal options

1. Mulch with lawn mower

2. Leaves can be taken to the designated dump site near the water tower. NO leaves may be left in bags or boxes at this site - loose leaves only. Do NOT drop off grass clippings.

3. Street Dept. will pick up leaves contained and placed on the curb.

4. BURNING LEAVES will be allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays during daylight hours from Sept. 15 to Dec. 15 and March 15 to May 15 each year. It is illegal, fines will be imposed.

Grass clippings will NOT be picked up by the city do NOT to deposit (mow) grass clippings on city streets.

Dog - A dog running loose and waste not cleaned up is illegal, fines will be imposed. Missing dogs - call the police.

Bike Tags are issued by the Police Department cost $1.00, it identifies your bike in case it stolen or misplaced.
